CUFFS

Cuffs
The importance of an opening sequence in a TV show is very high because it can hook the watcher into wanting to watch more. It also makes the viewer interested and wonder what will happen or ask questions.

The opening sequence in cuffs shows what a police man/woman's job is and how they are treated. It shows the viewer the place they are living in and where the TV program would take place. It appealed to the audience because it showed a big range of different people so lots of different people would watch it and start to like the characters. The very first scene in cuffs shows the sea then pans up to reveal the seaside town of Brighton, this already shows the location of the TV series.

There is a lot of diversity in Brighton and this is shown very well in the first opening sequence. It shows a pier with attractions for children and shows family friendly rides, it then shows some graffiti on a sign which represents crime in Brighton and also the youth who have done the graffiti. The sign is for a naturist beach, the youth could find this funny and this could represent a childish part of Brighton. It then shows the naturist who are not afraid to show there bodies and this is another aspect of Brighton.

There were many different types characters in the TV show which made people like different people. There was a character who is very tough and strong, lots of people may like this character because they could relate to being like this or could want to be like this character. There is also a character who wants to come across tough and strong but people don't consider him like that, this character is gay and has his job due to his dad. There is also a very athletic woman who will stand up for herself and is very self independent, lots of people may want to be like this character and want to continue watching.

Because cuffs is before the watershed it means they have to make it so that it isn't extremely scary or gruesome in places, This also means lots children and younger viewers are able to watch it.
