Mise en scene in cuffs

PREP Copy /paste this question into your prep post then answer it. Your extract starts at the raid outside Benson's house and finishes outside in the yard when Jake has saved Ryan's life. The image below shows the start point on ClickView.

Question 1 (5 marks):  Analyse how mise-en-scene is used in the extract to create meaning. Refer to at least two examples from the extract in your answer.
(Hint: mise-en-scene can include setting, vehicles, animals, casting, clothes & props, lighting. Mise-en-scene refers to everything that is on set.)

In the extract the police raid a house. When we see inside the house it is evident there is a lot of alcohol because we see many bottles of alcohol and one bottle is thrown at the police. This creates a sense of fear in the extract as we are scared for the officer's safety as the people in the house could act badly and put the police in harm. 

The raid takes place in a very ill lit room. This creates a sense of unknown in this scene as we are not able to see everything so the police officers could be in danger. This also creates a sense of fear as we are afraid for the police officers in this raid as they are risking their own health in this ill lit room, not knowing what will happen, for the safety of others.

As PC Jake Vickers looks for the suspect he walks down a tight alleyway. This creates a sense of tension in the audience as they feel if something were to happen to Jake Vickers he would have no escape and would be trapped. This feeling of tension will also create the feeling of fear in the audience as they are fearful that something may happen to Jake Vickers.
