Analyse how far the extract depicts the police's point of view rather than the criminals' point of view.

In the extract it is obvious it is depicted from the police's point of view rather than from the criminals' point of view. A way we can see this is from the contrast between the shots of the police and the shots of the criminals. When we see the criminals breaking into the shop we never got to see a close shot of their faces we only see shots from afar pointing mainly at what they are doing not who the criminals are. However when we see the police in the diner there are many shots of each of the police man and woman's face as they speak giving all attention to the police and allowing us to see exactly who is talking and what they are saying. This is very different from the shots with the criminals as they do not show who is doing what or any close up shots.

The editing in the extract allows the police to predominate. This means that every move the criminals make the police are able to counter the action of the criminal straight away. This occurs when we see the criminals drive through the window of the shop but then straight after we see the police get the message that this has happened and they get up straight away and counter their action. This editing makes the police seem dominent and powerful because it seems as though they can solve any problem and straight away.

Although the majority of the shots are from the polices perspective and from their point of view not all of the shots are from their point of view. When the pick up truck drives through the window of the shop it shows the CCTV which is not from the police's point of view so the extract is not containing of only the polices point of view. This shows that the extract obviously contains views of other people and not just the police.

In the extract sirens are used to make the scene seem realistic and to show fear and danger. When we hear the sirens the first thought that we think is danger and this can help viewer to understand the intensity of this moment. The sound of the siren shows tension and makes us feel fear for if the police are going to catch the criminals.

WHAT OUR FILM WAS ABOUT

We decided to make a intro film that does not include any scary bits at first however it makes you wonder what may happen and what is in the box. In our film intro we see two students find a box with fingers hanging outside of it. This makes us wonder what is inside the box and we cut the film before we could see what was in the box to make people continue thinking about what could be inside. A struggle whilst filming was finding the spot for the camera so that both of us could be in the film. In the end we only had one person at a time.

USE OF MEDIA LANGUAGE

Many people read newspapers for personal identity, people who read different newspapers may consider themselves in different ways. People who read The Observer may think of themselves as open minded. Newspapers change the way they are written for the types of people reading them so the observer is open minded so in the newspaper both sides of an argument are shown to suit the people reading it. If a person reading The Observer, for example, does not agree with the viewpoint they will still agree with some points made in the argument. Newspapers use language like this so people will agree with points made, respect themselves and respect the newspaper.

Images are used in the home page of newspapers because it allows the viewer to see straight away what is inside the magazine. In the Observer magazine, there are colorful images with block writing underneath to intrigue the reader to read the article and to inform the reader of what the article is about. The images will usually contain photos of individual photos as this is what is considered more intriguing to a reader, this is because many people would rather read something about someone rather than about something.

Teenagers may not watch a film like the lego movie because they consider it childish, however many teenagers may think that video games are not childish and a way to socialize with their friends. Rather than the movie being for children only by releasing a video game the range of ages who want to watch or play the LEGO movie will increase by a lot and much more ages will play the lego movie video game. Teenagers consider video games a challenge and so long as it is challenging teenagers will play, and then want to watch the LEGO movie.
A film company may also release a video game because it could introduce another group of people to the film. There are many different groups of people who like different things, many people like going to the cinema and many people like to play video games, both of these types of people could be included in a film franchise if a video game is released as well as the game. The population who play video games may play the films video game and then want to watch the film and compare what happens in the film and in the game. This would increase sales by a lot and definitely increase the popularity of the film.

GENRE CODES IN THE LEGO MOVIE

Analyse how genre codes have been used in The Lego Movie 

 In the Lego Movie Poster a very important requirement of a poster is the title so people can understand what is being advertised. The title is usually very big and the first thing people look at when they see the poster. In the Lego movie the whole world is made out of Lego and this is reflected because even the main title is made out of Lego.

The tag line in this poster is "The story of a nobody who saved everybody". This tagline shows the film is comedic as it seems funny seeing the two opposites being used in the same sentence.  It also explains to everybody what the film is about and shows the main character is not anybody special.

The CVI of this poster is very interesting because it shows the film is very exciting, we can see the main characters Emmet and Wyldstyle running away from the evil, bad guy with explosions going off. When we look at this image we can tell the film is very action packed and we understand who the main characters are.

Every character on the CVI is wearing very exciting and out of the ordinary clothes except for one, this is the character in the center of the screen and who we see first. This is obviously the main character and it could be funny to a person to see everyone in their exciting outfits and then one in ordinary clothes.

 In the poster containing a close up photo of Wyldstyle we can see how powerful and strong she is not only by the expressions on her face but by the events occurring in the background as well. In the background of this poster we can see a police car chasing her and a police man holding a gun leaning out the window. This shows that she is not like some people may think she is like because she is a woman she is strong and will stand up for herself. Wlydstyle also has a smile on her face which shows she is confident and that she isn't scared of anything even what is occurring in the background.

At the top of each of the posters there is a short tag line. In the poster containing close up images of each character it says who the role is played by. In Lord Business' close up it says at the top "Will Ferrel is Lord Business." This could make some adults want to watch this film because the may recognize the character like Will Ferrel and want to watch the film. The tagline is big so that everyone who sees the poster will read the text.

Lord Business' poster shows a very close up shot on his face so anyone who views the poster can instantly recognise he is angry and the bad guy in the film. His expression is very obvious because we can see lots of frown lines and even by the clothes he is wearing we can tell what he is like. He is wearing a bright red hat that signifies danger and his hat is spiky which may be considered scary and dangerous.

USES AND GRATIFICATIONS OF VIDEO GAMES

Blumer and Katz created a theory that people watch and play video games because of four reasons. The explained that people watch and play video games to escape from their real life and want to ignore what is happening, the people want to learn and see what is happening in other places, people may watch or play video games so they can talk to other people about what happened and also people may want to compare their own lives to characters in the video game.

People may play the Lego movie video game because they are upset with troubles in life and want to escape them. These people may choose the Lego movie video game because it has lots of humor and makes people feel happy. Whilst evil is occurring the characters in the game still make jokes so the game is enjoyable. The Lego movie video game is good for this because it is very different to the real world mainly because of the whole world being made of Lego and because of the bright sparks of magic flying everywhere.

Other people may play the Lego movie video game to make friendships in the real world and to talk to people about what happened. Many people will play a video game and then speak to people in the real world about what happened. This is called the water cooler effect and it helps many people to make friends and can form a community. If something exciting happens and causes a big reaction many people will want to talk to other people about this event and in the Lego movie they add humor and exciting events to cause this to happen and want to play more.
